Gemtec MD completes the first ever Jane Tomlinson Hull 10k run!

GEMTECWe would like to congratulate Gemtec’s Managing Director, Eric Shackleton, on his recent success in the first ever Jane Tomlinson Hull 10k.

Eric donned his trainers on Sunday 23rd May, along with his wife, and finished in a respectable 1 hour and 10 minutes.

He raised a grand total of £280 for Diabetes UK and is looking forward to competing in next year’s event, as he explains: “I really enjoyed participating the run – it was very well organised and a great event for the city to host – despite it being one of the hottest days of the year! Over 5000 runners took part and there was a great atmosphere. I’m already signed up for next year’s 10k and will be working hard in the mean time to improve on my time!”

The Hull 10K is a ‘Run for All’ event managed by the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. It is intended for entrants of all abilities, from the age of 15, whether they prefer to run, jog, walk or wheel around the city centre course. ‘Run for All’ was set up by the late Jane Tomlinson CBE, to stand as her fundraising legacy.

Before her death in 2007, Jane raised £1.85 million for children’s and cancer charities through a series of gruelling physical challenges while battling terminal breast cancer.
