Gemtec support grass roots sport by sponsoring Hull-based U15 team
Staunch supporters of grass roots sport in the region, Gemtec, have strengthened their sponsorship portfolio by striking a deal with a successful U15 squad.
The newly named Gemtec Spartans, who play in the Hull Boys Sunday League Wyke division under 15s, have been playing since 2003 - when they went under the name of MD Spartans.
Present coach Dale Bradley took over the club in 2004 at a point when the club was on the brink of folding.
Mr Bradley said: “The club had no money in the bank and was on the verge of closing when I took over in 2004. I was determined to see the club succeed and make sure all of the boys could continue playing.
“The team’s determination meant that the club won promotion last season and it was at this point we approached Gemtec with the possibility of a sponsorship deal.”
Eric Shackleton, Gemtec’s sales director was delighted to be able to help the club.
Mr Shackleton said: “Gemtec is a company of keen sports fans and when Dale got in touch and offered us a sponsorship package we were keen to get involved.
“It was clear that Dale had a passion for the team, and after going to watch a couple of matches it was also obvious that the players had real potential. We were only too happy to help in whichever way we could.”
Coach Dale Bradley continued: “with the money from the sponsorship deal we were able to buy the team a new home and away kit and give all the players a training top complete with Gemtec branding and when the company sponsored Hull FC they paid for the full team to go and watch a game and have their picture taken on the pitch.
“The deal has given us a great sponsor and at last we have money in the bank. In further testament to our passion for the team and for the game, after winning promotion last season we have recently won the league.”
